Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match Review:
Given that I am a rather big fan of Leaf/Aquaplus, and all their different games and IPs, this entire game, which was by the way originally developed by Examu for Arcade and later ported to PS3, is honestly absolutely a blast to play. Having the option to play in Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Match with all these different characters from their respective games, like Comic Party, Kizuato, To Heart, Utawarerumono, Routes, or Tears to Tiara, is just more than awesome and completely enjoyable. Especially if you are, of course, a fan of all these different games and IPs. So that I find myself just always having immensely fun playing this game.
One big strength of the game is undeniably the gorgeous presentation with, with the beautiful character sprites and wonderful animations. Especially Manaka's whole movement and attacks are very cute with the books she carries around. I love how they really implemented her whole personality within her attacks and movement. But that's not only the case for Manaka, they did this for every character, and all of them really feel like themselves. They've done a really fantastic job with that entire aspect of the game, especially, as I've already said, with the character sprites and their animations, and because of that, it is likewise a pretty beautiful game. As for myself, I for the most part enjoy playing with Chizuru, Tamaki, and Touka the most, but I like to play pretty much every character. The small story segments, after completing the story with a character, are additionally fairly nice, and feature some charming artworks.
Regarding the soundtrack, I personally totally love all of the remixes from songs out of all the different series, with "Play Ground", "Apple Place", "Concert Hall", and "Urban Freeway", which are remixes from tracks out of ToHeart2, Tears to Tiara, White Album, and Routes, certainly belonging to my favorites. But also the opening and credits songs, "Future World" and "Thanks a lot" are great, and I think that the entire soundtrack overall is pretty good and solid for what it is. For a fighting game, I think that all the tracks and remixes are all very fitting, and fairly enjoyable to listen to.
Probably the only major "criticism" I could mention, if you can even refer to it as such, as it is more a wish of mine, is that I would've loved it if the game had more content, and with that would include more and other Leaf/Aquaplus IPs. As an example, I would've found it awesome if there were Tenshi no Inai 12-gatsu characters in the game, along with that, some Shizuku, Magical☆Antique, Kusari, or Kimi ga Yobu, Megiddo no Oka de representation would've also been nice. But I'm still more than happy with what is included in the game, I just would've loved it if there was even more, since what already is in the game is really awesome. I think a sequel could be pretty awesome, there's certainly still a lot of potential for one, and they of course could include even more of their IPs and characters in a sequel. Especially something like White Album 2, which released after this game.
Personally I really like and enjoy this game because I foremost absolutely love and adore the characters and the respective series this game includes as a crossover. Seeing Tamaki, Multi, Mizuki, Chizuru, Arawn, Hakuoro, Touka, and so on, just always brings a smile to my face and makes me happy. On top of that, I'd say that this is, in general, a really enjoyable and good fighting game. So this game is, in my opinion, definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of Leaf/Aquaplus and want a really nice fighting game featuring their characters. Particularly with the upcoming Steam release, and the game with that being more easily accessible, I think the game is then totally worth trying out.
